How to Dispute Your Application Decision

If you believe your application decision was based on incorrect information, you may submit documentation for review. The type of documentation required depends on the reason for your decision.

Before You Start

  • If you are disputing your application decision, please do not submit another application unless directed by the 100 Team. Follow the steps below – submitting another application without following the steps below will likely lead to the same result and prolong your dispute review.

  • We can only re-review your application once complete and valid documentation is submitted

  • All documents must be clear, legible, and accurate

  • If documentation does not meet requirements, your original decision will remain

  • Dispute reviews can take up to 72 hours. In certain situations, criminal/eviction disputes can take longer and depend on the reporting agency's timeline for investigation.

We’ll verify the payment and reassess your application if requirements are met

3. Disputing Eviction or Criminal Records

If you believe a criminal or eviction record on your background check is inaccurate or does not belong to you, you have the right to dispute it. First, check your report to confirm the agency (CIC or TransUnion), and follow the steps required for that agency:

CIC

100 will submit a formal reinvestigation request on your behalf to CIC, our background screening provider. CIC will conduct an independent review and issue a final determination.

Step 1: Gather Your Supporting Documents

Collect any documentation you have that supports your dispute. Accepted documents include:

  • Court documents showing dismissal, satisfaction, correction, or release

  • Proof of payment or settlement of a judgment or eviction

  • Any official documentation showing the record is inaccurate or resolved

  • Government-issued ID (if the record may belong to someone else with a similar name)

  • A brief written explanation of your dispute

Step 2: Write a Brief Overview of Your Situation

Along with your documents, upload a document with a short written statement explaining:

  • What the record is and why you believe it is incorrect or does not apply to you

  • Any relevant dates, case numbers, or court information you are aware of

  • The current status of the matter, if known (e.g., dismissed, paid, resolved)

Step 3: Upload Your Documents

Upload all supporting documents and your written overview using the secure link below. No Dropbox account is required.

Once we receive your documents, our team will submit the dispute to CIC for review. CIC will follow up once a determination has been made.

If you have questions, please contact CIC Directly at (631) 862-9300 or www.cicreports.com

TransUnion

Step 1: Contact the Reporting Agency

Depending on your report provider:

TransUnion

Step 2: Complete the Dispute

  • Work with the agency to correct or remove the record

Step 3: Submit a Letter of Resolution

Once resolved, provide:

  • An official Letter of Resolution (not a dispute letter)

  • Must include case numbers

  • Case numbers must match your report

4. Identity Documentation/Unable to Corroborate SSN

If you have a Social Security Number: If you received a decision that indicated we were unable to corroborate your SSN, and you have a social security number, please submit a selfie of you holding your social security card.

If you do not have a Social Security Number: Upload a selfie of you holding your passport or ID card.

5. Submitting a Guarantor Bond

Certain properties accept guarantor bonds. Please first check with the property to see if they accept bonds for approval. If you would like us to re-evaluate your application decision with a bond document, upload it here.

Please note: Do not upload a bond document here unless you have received a decision from us. If you are in the process of applying, you can submit your bond document in your application if the property accepts bonds.

What happens after you submit your documentation for a dispute?

Once you submit your documentation, our team will review it within 72 hours. If your documentation supports a change to your decision, you will receive an email with your updated decision. If we need anything additional from you, we will reach out directly.
